Project CHAMAELEON was set up in 2009 by Alexander Tepiskidis and experiments in a such rough genre of electronic music as Aggrotech became its goal. As its development path the project chose Latin-American school of electro-madness being influenced by AMDUSCIA, HOCICO and C-LEKKTOR. But unlike his elder colleagues Alexander chose more interesting way to develop his music putting stress on “hardening” of Eurodance genre and mixing rabid speed and slow beats, screaming and clean vocals. Nevertheless, CHAMAELEON manages to fuse it all according to canons of melody.
Later Nikos Tepiskidis, a blood brother of Alexander, joined the project as a keyboard player. An interesting fact is that both brothers were born in Russia and they are half Russian and half Greek. Greece brought up the brothers having a great impact on cultural characteristics which you can notice in their music.
Stylistically the project describes quite evil images taken from Sci-Fi movies. On stage CHAMAELEON performs with distinctive charisma and vitality which once again brings back memories of the rise of Eurodance genre and cheerful club parties.
In 2013 the project was signed by Russian publisher ARTIFICIAL SUN which released its debut album “SicK | perVerTed”. The album got a lot of high grades from foreign music websites and theme-based Russian magazines. After releasing its debut work the band picked up such awards as:
the best album of the month (September) according to Dark.by
the best album of 2013 according to Dark.by
the best song of 2013 according to gothic.ru, 2nd position (song “Out of Control”)
the discovery of the year (the best new band) 2013, 3rd position
After the debut album was released the band’s tracks participated in such compilations as “Halotan Samplers 07”, “Elektrozom Vol.1”, “Infraschall Vol.6”
Later the project changes label to reformed INSANE RECORDS which plans to release CHAMAELEON’s second album “Evil Is Good” in the first half of 2015. In the nearest time the fans of the project will be able to enjoy digital EP with a new track from the upcoming album and some remixes.
